Access Technology, Inc., incorporated in 1990,
began as a hardware reseller and provider of networking
services in Richmond, VA. As market demands changed, the
company changed to offer service and support to small, medium
and large businesses, state agencies and academic
institutions. Since 1994 Access Technology, Inc. has
offered Internet related services.
Some of the present contracts held by Access
Technology, Inc. include a statewide contract to provide
Internet access for faculty, students and staff of colleges
and universities in Virginia that participate in VASCUP.
Three universities presently taking advantage of the contract
are Virginia Commonwealth University with over 4,500
subscribers, Old Dominion University with over 1,000
subscribers and George Mason University who recently signed on
with over 200 subscribers. Recently, Henrico County
Schools has contracted with Access Technology, Inc. to provide
similar Internet access for the students, faculty and staff of
this secondary public school system.
Access Technology is expanding the ISP (internet service
provider) network beyond the Virginia market to other
educational institutions. The established business
